Marvi Khan is a Pakistani-Canadian artist from Milton, Ontario. She now resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. Marvi's art reflects her interest in humanity's intangible thoughts and feelings. In her practice, she explores elements of abstraction through painting, drawing, and mixed media collage. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. She is pursuing her Master of Fine Arts at the Glasgow School of Art. Marvi’s work has been exhibited in several group shows with the Langley Arts Council and Toronto's Propeller Art Gallery. Additionally, she has sold her work in North Van Arts' annual North Shore Art Crawl. You can find her work featured in publications such as the Arts to Hearts Project's Studio Visit Book, and Simon Fraser University's magazine, The Lyre. In her free time, Marvi gives back to her community by volunteering at local art galleries and serving as a member of ArtLaunch's Young Artist Advisory Council. She is currently conducting a thesis on the Korean multimedia web series Alien Stage, focusing on the different storylines that the characters are put into. Comparing this method of making to her own practice, where prior paintings are continuously transferred into new ones, she aims to make a case for why recontextualisation continues to be a point of inspiration for artists and audiences alike.
